Why are most metal elements silver in appearance?
Most metal elements on the periodic table look like what we call 'silver'.
It's a part of the natural optical properties of metals(how metals interact with light),which depends on their structure.
Their 'metallic bond'(a sea of free electrons surrounding 'islands' of positively charged ions) is relevant to their optical properties.
Most metals have a high lustre,due to their smooth surface(no coarse granulations to scatter light all over the place,etc).
The silver-like appearance/colour of most metals indicates that this metal reflects most light(of course you have metals like copper and gold,which don't).
