Average day as a Radiologist?
I'm an undergrad Biology major and am currently considering different fields to go into, mostly weighing the daily/weekly time devoted to each field since I dont want to be that future dad who's only sees his wife+kids two hours per week.
What would the average day as a Radiologist be like?
Also when I used to work at Best Buy a guy would come in every few months and drop 20G's on electronics, he said he was a Radiologist and worked out of his house, receiving HD x-ray images, evaluating them, and then relaying the diagnosis by phone/email. Is this possible or was this guy just over-glorifying?
It is certainly possible and I do not think he was kidding you. There are many groups of radiologistd who have banded together to provide teleradiology services to cover night call for other radiology groups. This began as only nightime coverage so that emergency rooms would have radiologists reading scans and radiographs after hours. However this has expanded to where specialized radiologists can be parked at home or centrally located and will provide specialized reading of, for example, musculoskeletal MRI's for less experienced groups. High speed internet access and high resolution monitors have expedited this process.
